Duration: This course is delivered over a 6-week period, and requires approximately 24 hours of your time (an investment of 4 hours per week).
In this course, participants will explore the principles and practices of net-zero housing design and construction. Through a combination of theoretical learning and practical application, learners will see the impact of net-zero housing on energy efficiency, sustainability, and affordability. The course will cover energy retrofitting strategies, performance benchmarks, and metrics, as well as site planning and cost-benefit analysis of net-zero housing projects.
Learning Outcomes
You will refine your thinking about the impact of net-zero housing design, by:
- Using net-zero housing design and construction processes,
- Outlining appropriate energy efficiency methods & strategies for retrofitting,
- Setting performance benchmarks and measuring metrics for a given scenario,
- Adapting site plans, and development processes to achieve net-zero, and
- Conducting a cost-benefit analysis of the financial, environmental, and social aspects of a given net-zero housing project/scenario.
