Microcredentials are validation of your demonstrated skill or competency, earned through some type of short learning experience or prior learning. To earn a microcredential, individuals undergo some form of assessment of their competency that accurately represents their ability to perform the skill in the workplace. Each microcredential has stated criteria for earning it, and the type of activity or assignment used in the assessment.
Microcredentials are issued in the form of a digital badge that consists of a graphic badge, description of the skill or competency it represents, criteria for earning it, and the method used to assess the learner. The digital badge includes information about the issuing institution, the date it was earned, details of industry/community partners (if relevant), and may provide details about the learning experience itself. Your microcredential will have an identifier that is unique to you and cannot be duplicated. You can access your digital badge wallet whenever you like and share your digital badge with current or prospective employers through email, as a PDF file, on social networking sites like LinkedIn, or as a printed copy.
CBU works with industry and community partners to develop microcredentials that are relevant to the needs of the modern workforce and employers. Some of our microcredential options are developed to enhance and upgrade skills for those already in the workforce, while others are intended to help build pathways to meaningful careers. Microcredentials developed in partnership with industry associations and employers will indicate this joint effort and may provide a streamlined route to getting hired. However, you should always reach out to industry representatives to verify demand in your chosen field.
We've designed our microcredential options to be as cost and time-prohibitive as possible. These are a great option for individuals who can't commit to longer-term or expensive certificate, diploma, or degree programs and are looking to apply their knowledge and skills right away. Course prices vary depending on the length of program and targeted skill level.
